Tina's Very Own Bracelet

It was a sad day for Tina. Sure, her mom had packed a great lunch. Sure, she had the sweetest little top from the mall. And yes, she even had an A in every class. But one thing was missing. Tina noticed that the rest of her friends were wearing silicone wristbands, and knew that she'd never fit in without hers. She was usually "Miss Popularity," and had even been nominated to run for class president. But without the latest fashion accessory, she knew all her chances were shot. She glumly swung her bag over her shoulder and made her way into the classroom.

"Hey, Tina!" several of the students shouted, excited to see her enter the room. Tina glanced up, smiling; yet knowing they were probably all thinking what a big loser she was. But the room seemed busier than normal, and the excitement level was through the roof! Mr. Marticulos could barely get any of his students to cooperate.

Soon Mr. Marticulos ordered everyone in their seats, and began to write a few Algebra problems on the board. It was that very moment that Tina caught a flash of pink from beneath his jacket.

"What," Tina thought, "even Mr. Marticulos has one of those sweet silicone wristbands?" Unaware that the teacher had asked a question, Tina began to notice hands slipping up all over the room. Noticing, she saw that everyone with raised hand had the same hot pink silicone wristband.

Then Mr. Marticulos looked right at Tina.

"Tina, didn't you get the message to stop by the office? The school secretary has your silicone bracelets waiting. Our Algebra class did a few fundraisers while you were out last week."

He handed her his silicone bracelet, and mentioned he'd just pick up another later that day. When she saw the bracelet, Tina turned almost as pink as the silicone bracelet.

It read, "Tina for Class Prez!"

"Why, thank you, Mr. Marticulos," Tina said quietly. "I'm really looking forward to today's lesson," she squeaked, but she just couldn't stop smiling!
